FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1.   Why Crossover groups?
Crossover groups complement the Sunday services, and are both foundational and
essential to building the church. We believe Crossover groups will be used by God to
change the world as we obediently step out to reach people He has laid on our heart.        "Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in
their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts..."  Acts 2:46 (NIV)

2.   What is the mission of the Crossover Challenge?
The mission of the Crossover Challenge is to bring the cross over to every generation and
culture through the vehicle of Crossover groups.
3.   What is a Crossover group?
A Crossover group is a group of approximately 6 - 12 individuals that connect around a
shared culture and/or by their generation, and has the following characteristics:
       • Mission - To bring the cross to the people God has laid on our heart
       • Maturity - The "In, Up, and Out" process of development
       • Model - People structure of 6-12, including:
            - 1 primary leader
            - 3 inner-circle who are leaders-in-training and have oversight responsibility
for the rest of the group
            - others who are leaders-in-training
       • Message - Crossover Study Notes

4.   Who is in a Crossover group?
Typically, a Crossover group is comprised of individuals who share a culture and/or
       generation.
5.   What is meant by a shared culture and/or generation?
Anything that brings people together is a shared culture or generation. A soccer team,
those who enjoy hunting, Hispanics learning to speak English, parents of new-borns,
parents who have lost a child, software programmers, and NASCAR fans are all examples
       of shared cultures or generations.
6.   How does someone get into a Crossover in-group?
It is very easy to become part of a Crossover in-group. Some of the many ways
       include via:
       • an invitation from someone already in a Crossover group
       • a care group like Divorce Care, a support group, or a counseling group
       • an interest group like soccer, MOPS, or Sunday group
       • an already-existing group, team, or class connected with CBC
       • signing up for a Crossover group
7.   When do groups meet?
Each group meets at a time determined by the group and its leader. Typically, this will
be at least once every other week.        Some Crossover groups may meet more or less frequently, depending on the nature and
needs of the individual group. Generally speaking, however, members will attend their
       Crossover in-group every other week.
8.   What is taught in a group?
What goes on in a group will be determined by the culture and/or generation of that
group. Times for relationship development, spiritual growth, and empowerment will be
part of every group meeting.        Crossover Study Notes, a Bible-based message presented by our lead pastor, will be
passed down through the Crossover group network. The message will be easily adapted to
the style of an individual group leader and the spiritual maturity of a group.
9.   Will a leader be a member of more than one group?
Yes. A leader will be a member of a Crossover in-group, and will also lead a Crossover
out-group (the group to which they are reaching out).
10. What are the qualifications of a group leader?
A member prepares to lead a group by regularly attending their Crossover in-group.
Typically, this means approximately one year of growing in a group before beginning to
lead an out-group.        A Crossover group leader is one who:
        • is a Christ-follower
        • has been trained in a Crossover group, and
        • has demonstrated ownership of the Crossover vision.
11.  What are the responsibilities of a group leader?
The responsibilities of a Crossover group leader include:
        • meeting regularly, both as part of an in-group, and as the leader of an out-group
        • adapting the Crossover Study Notes training to their style and group, for the purpose of
           maturing them in the faith
        • encouraging and empowering their leaders-in-training as they begin to define their own
           groups
12.  To whom is the group leader accountable?
A group leader is accountable to their Crossover group leader. Additionally, a group
leader is responsible to their staff/pastor leader, and is ultimately responsible to CBC's
        lead pastor.
13.  How will the health of the group be evaluated?
The health of a group is determined by several measurable factors:
        • The group meets regularly and stays connected. Attendance is reported each meeting
        • Members are being trained to lead their out-group, and are demonstrating spiritual
growth. Indicators of spiritual growth (i.e. regular quite time) will be noted. Duration of
leader training is about 12 months.
        • Members are beginning to understand which culture and/or generation God is laying on
their hearts, and are beginning to define their own out-groups.
