Deaf & Hearing Impaired

After much prayer and consideration, Community launched a brand new Deaf Ministry in 2008! The Deaf Ministry team has been meeting and is very excited about reaching this culture with the good news of Jesus Christ. Perhaps you have noticed some people around the church interpreting for the Deaf, presenting worship signing during the services, or learning American Sign Language in classes. We are moving forward in small steps as God leads and learning a lot about the very active, vital Deaf culture in our community.

Do you know any Deaf people? Do you have any experience in ASL or Deaf interpretation? Have you been involved in captioning? Would you like to take a beginning sign language class? If you said "Yes!" to any of these questions, we would love for you to get involved in the Deaf Ministry team. Please email Steve Shivers at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , phone 770-914-0808, x231. Pray that God will equip us to reach our Deaf friends for Christ.

Ways you can be involved:

Deaf Ministry Workshop

Community's Deaf Ministry is hosting a workshop on April 27th, from 10:00am - 2:45pm called 'Lost in Translation,' a workshop with speakers as diverse as the topic of translating music! In this workshop, we will train those interested in learning how to translate music into ASL and kick start a team that does just that for Sunday mornings -- the CHOP team! Registration is free to all Community Bible members!

    Hearing Assistance

    hearing loop

Community is now equipped with a new listening system in the Auditorium. To receive the signal, sit in one of the two sections nearest the large windows and switch your Hearing Aid to "T". Headphones are available at the sound booth for those who do not have the "T" coil.

Many thanks to our Deaf Ministry for making this system possible! Questions? Contact Steve Shivers at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
